Kimberly Meek, MSW, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with six years of experience in private practice, following a distinguished 20-year career with the U.S. Department of Defense. During her Master of Social Work program at Southeastern University, she trained at a faith-based nonprofit supporting homeless single mothers. Kim also provided counseling to military veterans and their families through a Vet Center. Since graduation, Kim has worked extensively with veterans diagnosed with PTSD, children using play therapy to build confidence and modify behaviors, individuals managing anxiety and depression, and couples seeking healthier relationships. Kim integrates a variety of evidence-based practices into her sessions, drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while incorporating Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy, and play therapy with children. She is trained in the Gottman Method (Level 1) for couples and holds certifications as a Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP I & II) and an EMDRIA® trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. In sessions, Kim typically allows clients to lead the discussion, while providing structure and guidance when needed—particularly for children or clients uncertain about where to begin. Sessions may involve deep therapeutic work or lighter conversations to build rapport, depending on the client's goals and needs. Kim measures success through a combination of outcome measurement tools, monthly progress tracking, and collaborative treatment planning with clients. She carefully monitors improvements and encourages clients to practice skills between sessions, sometimes suggesting a reduction in therapy when appropriate. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Kim served in both the enlisted and officer corps, bringing a deep commitment to service into her practice. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with their grandchildren, and relaxing at home with their dogs.
